Hi there. I am back from a little break and I see that the conversation has gone straight into the toilet! LOL ( I saw the poo soap :oops:

)

Anyway, I have been asked to do some M&P classes for kids - 10 to 20 kids at a time ages 6 to 12. ( the age groups will be split up.)
My question is for others who have done such classes before :
What is the best way to heat up the soap base for all these kids?
Is it best to do lots of little batches in the microwave or get an electric melting pot? I just don't know what would work best.

Maybe AM ( The Queen ) has some good clues for me????

I usually use a large double boiler or a crockpot. The crockpot needs to have a high and a low temperature setting.

If I use the crockpot, I put 5 to 6 pounds of soap in it and then melt 16 ounces of soap in the microwave and pour that warm, liquid soap into the crockpot to help get the process started.

If you don't do that little step, it takes significantly longer to melt the soap in the crockpot.

Then, ladle the soap out into individual cuppies for the kids to make soap.
