I swear I had the WORST time with my lippies tonight! There ended up being more on the table than in the tubes!! Any good tips for cleaning off the tubes? I wiped them down super well but they still feel slippery. Arg!!!

Next order I make I'm getting one of those handy trays!

Try a littl alcohol on the cloth you're using to wipe. It might cut the grease, and is what beekeepers use to remove wax and propolis.

Get the tray!

Normally I have no problems at all pouring into the tubes, but one day with a lot of spills makes that tray very much worth it! Especially since I have jojoba in my lip balm! Expensive mess :?

I did my first batches without the tray. So glad I bought one...it made things so much easier and clean up was a snap. :D

Heather you will love the tray! It catches what doesn't make it into the tube. You can then just scrape that off, remelt it and put it into another tube! Jojoba in a lip balm.... LUSCIOUS!!

Yes, I am SO in love with jojoba! Extra moisturizing and doesn't clog my pores. I can use my balm once a day and feel the moisture all day long!

I agree that jojoba is some darned good stuff!! Wish I could afford more of it. *sigh*
Hey, Heather, if/when you get the tray, get one of these, too. Use it to scrape the excess off the tops. Also before you fill the tubes, twist them all about a quarter of a turn as if you're twisting them up. This way you can just twist the top into the tube and not have to cut it off....but you probably already knew all this.

Great tip Lisa! What I do now is fill the tubes up so they have a dome of balm, once it cools it ends up pretty much perfectly flat. Will be SO much easier with a tray!

With the tray, I do the "over fill" technique, scrape the whole top of the tray with the tool pictured in the post above, which fills in any holes that form as they cool, and then cap. The caps have room for a bit over the top, so I don't twist up-twist down. The first few times usingmthe tray, I trimmed the tops with a knife, but I'm often doing 100+ at a time, so I try to avoid extra motions!
