I'm going to be making lip balms today and would appreciate any tips on filling the twist tubes. (up until now I've just put it in small containers for personal use) TIA

I have a tray that the tubes fit into that makes it super easy to fill the tubes. If you don't have one of those but you have pipettes those would work well. Otherwise a steady hand....

Thanks, Lisa. I'll try the pipette method and if the balms do well at my markets I'll invest in a tray. 8)

I group the balms together & put a big rubberband around them to hold them together. I have a small stainless steel measuring cup that has a pour spout on it, which makes it excellent for pouring. Plus, since it's stainless steel, I can have it sitting on coffee cup warmer (or a candle warmer), which keeps the balm from setting up in the cup.

Definitely get a tray. They cost next to nothing, and it's no-mess and fast fill.

Never had an issue with it solidifying at all, the insulating properties of the turkey baster seem to work quite well for lip balms and butters!

I have some questions about packaging/labeling lip balm tubes:
1. what type/size of labels do you like best (waterproof, regular)
2. does anyone use the waterproof labels that are perforated and tamper-resistant? I tried these but I'm not sure if I like them.
3. What about shrink bands? Anyone use them?
4. Do I need to put instructions on the label as to how to use the lip balm?
Thanks!
