I made another batch today and I'm not quite sure how they've turned out as I haven't unmolded them yet, but I think I finally got it right. I added 1/2 part corn starch (I was having problems with them sagging) and I *think* I got the witch hazel right. My question is, do you always use the same amount of witch hazel or is it always dependant on things like the weather?

I would say it depends on the weather. The more humidity, the less witch hazel you will need.

My liquid amounts are never exactly the same. Depends on the weather, humidity, position of the sun in the 7th hour on the 3rd day of the moon cycle...

That's what I figured, but that's ok. Coolah, that's pretty much how I feel about bath bombs, but I'm determined to figure them out!!

Keep going, you'll get there eventually. Took me ages to work them out, then one day it just clicked and I was like "ooooh, THIS is how the mixture is meant to feel" ....

I attempted countless recipes and altered recipes before I finally got them right. I use clay in mine instead of corn starch now and cocoa butter for my liquid. My customers love them, always have. Apparently our fascination with any thing fizzy never goes out of style! Lol

I haven't tired using oils or anything yet. I unmolded them and they look fantastic, so I think I might have finally gotten the recipe right. Now that I have a good basic recipe I can start playing around with it.

If you use cocoa butter in your bombs you melt it first?
I have always just added a few little chunks to mine.

I use
8 oz baking soda
4 oz corn starch
4 oz citric acid
4 oz of salt
And then I start added almond oil until they are just right.. sometimes as much as 4 oz.

That seems like a lot of oil to add to the fizzies, especially a batch of that size. Do they puff up on the surface? I melt the cocoa butter first.

But then again, this is me making bath bombs.....

I don't use Cocoa butter in mine anymore, but when I did I used to put it through the food processor so it was as fine as it could be and mix it in that way. But I didn't like how the balls were bumpy... .. :? ....

making a batch of bath bombs in the shape of big butterflies... I only use 1 tsp of AO and always use corn starch and witchhazel. from my my nephews say .. its a good combo. fizzes about 3 minutes and turn the water bright blue... still dont if I'm going to get the bath bomb dyes from BB or another place. will post pictures when dont.

No they dont puff up.. It just depends on the weather on how much oil I add.. They turn out really well.
