Teach Soap

I purchased the solid lotion kit from BB along with some countryside orange lab colour; thought it would look nice with the energy FO that comes with the kit. I followed the instructions to make the lotion (found out I dislike the scents of beeswax pastilles and cocoa butter!) then added a couple drops of undiluted lab colour. This is how I read to do it on a couple other sites, and saw in videos. Well. My lab colour hit the lotion and separated into 300 little brown coloured balls! I mixed it in with my stick blender but really didn't see the colour come through at all. I added a few more drops, stick blended, and nothing. Still just beeswax coloured. I poured them anyhow and they are setting up a very pale yellow. So.... what happened to my lab colour?! I wanted them to be a peachy-pale orange!

My Lab Color is water soluble only. This means that it will always separate since oils and water do not mix. Try mica instead or FD&C Lakes (which are oil soluble).

Was the lab color diluted in oil or water?

What about oxides since those are mixed in oils?

I like to leave mine uncolored and use unrefined shea butter. It makes them a pretty pale yellow.

I have not made any for awhile... will be ordering some pushup tubes from BB soon. Have never colored but may want to give it a try... would think that the color should be very light. Maybe next time I need bees wax I could not get the white ones, then there would be a hint of yellow.
