Teach Soap

Okay, searching for anything about preservatives is useless! No matter how I word the query it comes back with too many items found! I remember reading in one of the threads that one of the preservatives commonly used can smell a bit fishy... which was it? When I venture into conditioner I want to use a non-fishy preservative! I need to add all of these things to my wishlist on BB so I can mention to my fiance that I want to make this stuff at home. And then mention the wishlist Also, is there one preservative that is "better" for more allergy prone skin than the others? NEVER thought I'd be making things with preservatives! But.... conditioner and lotion are calling. I must heed their call!

BTMS might be the one you're thinking of that can smell fishy if heated too high. That's an emulsifier, not a preservative though. Read my thread on preservatives, make your own decision, use it at a proper %, take good notes, have an accurate scale and don't forget to get your lotion tested.

How the heck did I miss that sticky? Ugh! Either the flu, or the flu meds LOL That is exactly what I needed to see, looks like germall plus (liquid) is paraben and formaldehyde free. And good for lotion and conditioner. Just what I need!

I see it also says liquid soaps, none of my liquid soap recipes call for a preservative... should I be adding one?

I ordered germall plus liquid. It says 0.5-1% usage. Just want to make sure I have this right in my head. Add that amount to the 32oz batch of diluted paste once it has cooled, yes? Does it matter if I do it before or after the scent/colour?

Hehehe, ahhh the learning process. Irena is lucky we don't have her number, she'd be getting 300 texts a minute LOL I got my pot today, and my FO, colour and preservative should be here next week. Then I shall make shampoo! And some foam soap for my bathroom, its so much easier to use than a bar (yes, I am lazy). You guys are sooo feeding my addiction! .....and I love you for it
