I figured since you had all seen the reports of my (mis)adventures making lip balm, you might like to here how it came out in the end.
Pretty well, it seems.
I took a bunch of them to my former place of employment. Several people who tried them in front of me said things like, "This is really nice, I really like this."
I got together with a couple of friends last night, and took some for them as well. One of the women put some on as soon as I got there with it. She commented later that even though she'd been eating, she could still feel the balm.
(She got a watermelon, which she had asked for. When she put it on, her eyes nearly rolled up in her head, and she pronounced it "perfect".
)
Most of them are made with beeswax. I have candelilla and carnauba, but somebody (Irena, I think) said it can take a couple of days for those two to reach final consistency. I was in a situation where I was making them one night and handing them out the next, and the beeswax ones set up faster.
And everybody really seems to like the flavors I have. (And I haven't even tried all the flavor oils yet!)
Only complaint I've gotten is from somebody who got a spearmint, and said it wasn't "minty" enough for her.
So I guess I'm doing okay.
