Is it called a salve now? I'm thinking this would be a better way to apply the lotion anyway, just put it in a jar and call it a day?

You could remelt it and make it harder with beeswax, candelilla or carnauba wax.

I made the recipe from Soapqueen under 'lotion bar love' and it was mooshy to me, so I asked in the comments what I could do to harden it up, and it turned out adding more beeswax worked like a charm! I just took it out of the molds and the push tubes and remelted and added more melted beeswax and it turned out great!

ooh OK i thought that reheating the oils made them go rancid depending on which oils you use so I was trying to figure out what to do since I thought I couldn't just remelt them. Thank you all

Thank you. I just use a crock pot on low heat

We accidentally did a little experiment about heat and sunlight on lotion bars. We were at a festival and so all the lotion bars were exposed to the same heat however the tester was out of its container and was in direct sunlight and after a few hours smelled burnt and horrible. So it seems that heat probably isn't great, but sunlight was devastating to the oils/butters/beeswax.
Not sure how much heat would ruin the bars, but now know how much sunlight will!
