Teach Soap

Looking to get supplies for that liquid soap I want to try. My question is for those of you that make it or have tried it - is a 5 quart
crock pot large enough? I doubt I would ever make huge batches, but in the book it calls for an 8 to 12 quart pot. I really would like to use a crock pot. Help please.

I prefer the 8 quart in case the soap start to rise.

I've made 3 batches and already had one volcano, as did Hestey. Less chance of that in a crock pot, but it can still expand and bubble. So I would want head room Mdouble the size of my batch, for mess prevention.

I've only made 1# batches and use a 3qt crock pot. No problem with volcanoes so far! (keeping fingers crossed!)

Thanks everyone. Think I will sit down this week and develop my first recipe. Then I will know the amount I am looking at and can decide from there. If I had not given that old crockpot to the thrift store a few years back I would be giving that a go...oh well. We can't hang onto everything.

I keep watch.... they seem to be a hot item in our thrift stores !? But I won't give up... the right item will come along. Our rummage sale season is just getting started... that could give me a better chance.
