Teach Soap

This is the first one that worked well in all respects: it's concentrated so you don't need much. Non irritant, left the hair in great condition. This is just the basic formula with no fancy stuff added.

Dehyton G: sodium cocoamphoacetate 11%
Dehyton KB: coco betaine 9%
Dehyton AB-30: "Fatty amine derivative with betaine structure" 6.5%
Ammonium Lauryl sulfate: 7%
water: 65.7%
citric acid: 0.3%
potasium sorbate: 0.5%

Thanks for the formula. If I wanted to sub out the Ammonium Lauryl sulfate, what could I use instead?

Oh my gosh I use 99cent shampoo and $10.00 conditioner! Occasionally I use my bar soap for my hair and my hair dresser thinks it's great!

This sounds like a lot of work, so good for you figuring this out! Did you have these ingredients on hand or collect them over time?

It really depends what you can get hold of. Sending quantities of surfactant from one place to another gets expensive. If you can get hold of an anionic succinate, that would do it, or a lactate, or gluconate . . . there are various. I've just been quoted a succinate locally so we'll probably use that to make a sulphate-free range.
The one I put above, though, really is very mild. It's only 7% ALS and commercial stuff usually contains 30% SLS. Makes a good frequent-use base. It clarifies nicely to a viscous clear liquid, about the same viscosity as Caprice. Note, the citric acid percentage is absolutely critical. Too little and the pH will be too alkaline, too much and it will not be thick enough. It should have a pH of about 5.9 (also, potassium sorbate needs a pH <7 to work properly, but I'm sure you already know that).

I'm going to use this one as the basis for a liquid soap, adding some vitamin E and aloe vera to it, plus fragrance. I'll add some quaternium-60, panthenol, vitamin E, and fragrance for the shampoo version. Maybe a little Tween-80 + jojoba oil would be nice. After that I'll do a body shampoo cream.

I've got to hand it to you, I'm impressed at the breath of your knowledge! Bravo! Perseverance and hard work are bound to pay off in the long run! This sounds like a successful product on the eve of distribution!

Thanks everyone. I'll post the formula for the liquid hand soap as soon as it's ready.

Tried to make the Body Bubbles recipe, which is based on the shampoo but in a cream form.
I discovered that adding MEA (a foam booster and stabilizer found in many cream shampoos) moved the salt curve so far to the left - even at 2% - that when I added enough citric to get pH7, it went too thin
Not to worry, I will just omit the MEA, I don't really need it anyway.
