I have been searching for ingredients, especially on Lotion Crafter, looking for which ingredients to purchase for a hair perfume spray that I would like to make, their ingredients are a little hard for me to understand. Knowing that there are many people out there who are concerned, rightfully so, about the types of chemicals or ingredients that they put on there person, how does one go about finding a recipe for a specific product? I see that you can use cyclomethicone, dimethicone, are these safe or vegan? Some people don't want silicone, so what would be a sub? Certain oils cannot be sprayed form a nozzle, can I use fractionated coconut oil and fragrance? Some of this stuff is hard to figure out, does anyone have any issues with trying to figure out ingredients and their safety or "green-ness" or organic origins?

Cyclomethicone & dimethicone are lab made, so not considered natural. Fractionated coconut oil would make the hair greasy. For a perfume for the hair, I would go with perfumer's alcohol. If you want to keep it natural you could go with Lavender alcohol, but it would interfere with your fragrance and it's pricey.

You can experiment with distilled water, add about 1% to 2% scent/fragrance mixed with enough polysorbate to clarify, mix in enough perfumer's alcohol to preserve, and add and mix in a little glycerin as a soothing humectant.

I think soap buddy's ideas are pretty sound. Keep it polar; use polar type fragrances. I wouldn't want to use petrolatum or silicones in a product like that.
