So...I'm experimenting...or about to actually.. with coloring incense. They've been left uncolored* (only taking on the color of certain F/O's) But I would like to color them. My supplier NaturesGardenCandles.com does not say anything about coloring the incense sticks.

One site I came across said to add color (though not specifying liquid soap or liquid candle dye) to the F/O, soak and let dry, then soak in DPG and dry again.

I will try this but I was also going to test both soap and candle dyes, and mixing my F/O and DPG first (as it is recommended) with the color and see how that works.

has anyone here made incense? Colored it? know anything? possibly before I burn down the house. (or at least make it extremely smokey :lol:

)

Don't try FD&C soap colors. They will smoke and smell nasty. Liquid candle dyes might be ok.

Thanks, I've purchased 4 colors that match my F/O. We shall see what happens. I'll let you know what happens. :wink:

I was planning on making incense at one time and had done a lot of research. I looked back on my notes and found this;

"The easiest way to color incense is with food coloring, but plants can also supply natural colors: for example, red sandalwood for red, willow for brown, safflower for yellow, and charcoal for black."
