Just today I made my first batch of liquid soap. I used a mostly olive oil (pomace) recipe with a little coconut and castor and 0% superfat, but my soap won't get transparent. It's been in the crock pot now for 6 hours and I've checked to see if it was clear by diluting a little bit in water, 2:1 ratio. What did I do wrong? Can I add alcohol now to clear it up? Did it not turn out clear because I used pomace olive oil instead of extra virgin? I'm stumped. PLEASE HELP!

Pomace has unsaponifiables; more so than regular olive. So that's a posibility. Alcohol would evaporate, but go ahead and try. I don't see what detriment it would do. Just be careful! It's very flammable and don't inhale the fumes!

Rather than use alcohol, why not try some glycerin? My friend just had this issue when making her all olive oil liquid soap, and she was not using pomace. In fact, She cooked it more the second day (got too tired the first day to keep going), and even a 3rd day! She told me that She added some glycerin to it and ended up with a more clear soap, but not a completely clear soap. She has been using it though, as a shampoo instead of a hand soap, and says that she loves it! She said that it is quite gentle and a lovely soap.

I dont know, but it sounds worth a shot to me, and far better than alcohol. :D
