Teach Soap

I have been making shampoo using a basic hot process liquid soap fomula. I would like to add cetyl alcohol to my formula when should it be added and at what percentage?

Color me confused, but why do you want to add this?

Maybe as a thickener? Although I've usually only used it in conditioners and lotions.

You may want to check with your supplier to see what their recommendations are. But I've seen usage rates for this at 1%-5%, it just matters what you're using it for. I add it to the heated oil for lotions. Since I've never used in shampoo I can't say exactly how much or when you should add it.

Hopefully someone here has used it for shampoo and can be a little more helpful.

Cetyl alcohol thickens lotions. For a shampoo I would try liquid Crothix, 20% salt solution or Xantham gum.
