Hello soap friends,

I made the BB cupcake fizzies and they turned out great, everyone loved them but the "icing" didn't dissolve without squishing it with your hands in the tub. Is it supposed to dissolve on its own or did I mix it up wrong?

I made my second batch tonite but want to wait on the icing until I find out if I need to do something different with the icing. 8)

Thanks bunches!

Debbie

I have made these before, and if I'm not mistaken, it's meant to be like a piece of soap, not smushy at all, if it was smushy before using, then it might not hold it's shape when you pack it and transport. I have used two different recipes and both have come out firm. As far as using them in the bathtub, I have had to use mine as a piece of soap because of it's firmness. I hope that helped you.

Ok thanks noni

I didn't realize the frosting wasn't supposed to be fizzie  Mine did come out solid but I thought they were supposed to act like the fizzie in the water. Thank you for the information!

Hiya, In Anne Marie's tutorial I too got the impression that the frosting was supposed to dissolve and provide the bubbles, otherwise what is the point of adding the SLS to the frosting? I have made many attempts at the cupcakes but have now given up altogether as I have never been able to get the frosting to melt, also, no matter what I do, the frosting will not stay stuck to the cake base. I have tried using a wetter consistency but this means the frosting does not hold its shape.

Has anybody got a fool proof recipe that they are willing to share?

Thanks

Hel

Hi Hel,

My "frosting" sticks to the "cakes" just didn't fizz in the water???? I don't follow the frosting receipe to the letter tho. As far as the water and powdered sugar go I add those until its stiff. I don't know if that makes a difference as far as the sticking to the bottom part goes but I have not had any problems with them staying together. I have made 3 batches so far.

Thanks,
Debbie

I have given up pretty much on Anne Maries recipe, I now use foaming bath butter melted down in a double boiler with a small amount of beeswax to make it firmer, I then whip it by hand until it's the right consistency and pipe it onto the cupcakes quickly. If the frosting doesn't stick i simply melt some more FBB and pour a tsp onto the cake to quickly sandwich it all together.

Oh and I put some slsa into the fizzie mix to make foamy bubbles, the frosting can then be scooped up from the bath and used as a luxury cream soap/body wash, that way my customers get 2 for the price of 1.

I find that adding the beeswax makes it firm enough to mail ok, If you are unsure then do a test first! send one to yourself lol, I did that with both my cup cakes and bath melts, it's well worth the peace of mind.

Great idea with the FBB! Love it! http://www.brambleberry.com/Foaming-Bat ... P4955.aspx

The SLS recipe is softer and does need to be crumbled under running water, like the LUSH solid bubble bars, to bubble.

The non SLS recipe is not soft and just floats around in the tub (but eventually dissolves) which is why I designed the SLS recipe. =)
