Teach Soap

Hi All,

I'm new here and can't wait to begin learning this beautiful craft of soapmaking. My Husband and daughter both have eczema and I would love to make soap AND lotion for them. But until I can build up a good collection of oils... what 2 or 3 oils would anyone recommend I add to
My soap and lotion base for this skin condition. I know there are many great recipes with alot of oils but I'm just starting out and don't quite have all of them yet

Thanks for any advice!

I would start with pure castille soap with no fragrance. It's 100% olive oil.

E.Oils for eczema include; carrot seed, bergamot, balsam peru, blue chamomile, helichrysum, geranium, jasmine, lavender, juniper (good for weeping eczema), lemon, melissa, myrrh, palmarosa, patchouli (good for weeping eczema), peppermint, rose, rosemary, hyssop, and red thyme

Eczema/Psoriasis oils;
Oils: Borage seed oil (but is not to be heated so do not use in soap), Baobab, pumkin seed oil, seabuckthorn, neem, shea butter.

Hi Sydney1! I also have eczema and have tried just about every OTC product there is. I bought some shea butter when I started making soap and through this forum and other sources found out that it is good for eczema. So, I've been using straight shea butter on mine for about 2 weeks now and have seen a good bit of improvement in my skin. Better by far than the OTC products! I keep some in a small container and warm it briefly in the microwave to make it easier to apply since it's very thick and is hard to rub in.

Thank you all for your suggestions, sounds like straight Shea Butter is the way to go

Features mostly shea butter with some healing oils. Although Carrot Seed oil isn't the most pleasant-smelling odor you'll run across.
