I have always wanted to try to make this cute cupcake fizzy but never got around to so I have some questions and I hope someone can help :)

1. Is it okay to use meringue powder in bath products? I am kind of thinking of yeast infection lol
2. How long does one cupcake fizzy last prior to use?
3. Sls can you sub it for something else, I don’t know what that is:/

I want to follow the recipe that I saw on soap queen blog..

Thank you so much

Hi! I will try to help you with this as much as I can!
1. Is it okay to use meringue powder in bath products? I am kind of thinking of yeast infection lol

Yes it is okay. In a "normal" bath, the ingredients do not enter the vagina in the first place, and sitting in a tub for the duration of a bath should not contribute to a yeast infection. Ann-Marie actually addressed this in the comments of that recipe blog, if I remember correctly.

2. How long does one cupcake fizzy last prior to use?

Sorry, can't really say, none have ever lasted around my home long enough to test for an expiration date! LOL Really, I see no reason that they should have a short expiration date at all.

3. Sls can you sub it for something else, I don’t know what that is:/
SLS is short for sodium laurel sulfate and it is what makes the bubbles. I personally do not use, but most commercial products (look at your shampoos and liquid soaps) use it. You can easily purchase it at a lot of the soap-making supply shops. As for what to sub for it, I am sorry, but I can't tell you, as that would be reworking the recipe completely. If you have no objection to the SLS, I would just stick with the SQ's recipe. If you do have an objection, then you will have to experiment. :P

Good luck!

The SLs is most likely Sodium Lauryl Sulphoacetate which is a milder surfactant than the other sulphates.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate is derived from coconut and palm oils. It is a safe, skin-friendly surfactant (foaming agent) for both skin and hair.

I have used this frosting recipe from Ann-Marie and it is quite wonderful!! I am on a budget and had to find something that was a little up my price alley, so I tried this recipe from WSP and it came out great. I already had the ingredients, which also made it easier!! Here is the link for the recipe:

The Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, often called SLSA, is made from coconut and palm oils, so yes, it is natural. They are both marketed as safe for skin, but, while commercial companies use SLS a lot, it really is not great for your skin. The SLSA is not harmful to your skin in any way, but some people willl not use it due to it being made with palm oil . You can use whichever you prefer or neither, it will depend upon your belief system. :P

I know it can be confusing, and I apologize, but I, nor anyone else, can tell you what to use or not use. You will have to decide your company (and your personal) mores and guidelines, then follow those. What some people will or won't do, may be very different from you and your standards. If the big companies can use SLS, so can you....but do you want to? Hope this helps you.

If anything, the coconut oil would make it hard, not soft, as it is presents hard when under 76 (or 96) degrees, (depending upon which type you used). If it is/was warm where you live, when you used it, you may not have seen it in its solid state, but trust me, it does get that way.
