I want to make a Shave Lotion Bar (for men).
I really like Swift's recipe, and will probably base mine on this:
SOLID SHAVING BAR HEATED PHASE 60% Incroquat BTMS (or 30% BTMS, 30% Incroquat CR) 10% cetyl alcohol 10% butter of choice - 5% cocoa butter, 5% something else, if you wish 3% cationic polymer like honeyquat or condition-eze 7 (polyquat 10) 5% oils - I 'd suggest shea oil (2.5%) and fractionated coconut oil (2.5%) 2% hydrolyzed silk protein 2% another hydrolyzed protein of choice
COOL DOWN PHASE 2% panthenol 2% dimethicone 2% cyclomethicone 2% fragrance or essential oil
But I would like my bar to lather up a bit. I know the lather probably doesn't make it work better and is for show mainly, but I think people like a bit of lather.
So... do I just add a couple of surficants to make that happen?
I have SLS, SCI and Cocamide DEA in my ingredients box right now. Can anyone recommend which to use, how much and at which stage please?
I've also seen a couple of websites mention adding bentonite clay to shave bars, as apparently it adds slip and slide. I have some of this in my ingredients too, just wondering if anyone thinks its a good idea, and how much of that I need to add!?
Thanks! Magia x
