Hello everyone!! Just wanted to know, what is carboxylic acid? Someone uses these in their bath bombs and I have no idea what it is and what purpose serves. I think they are using this in place of baking soda. I don't get it.

Baking soda is not an acid, so I doubt someone would use it instead of carboxylic acid. Lemon juice (citric acid) is in the carboxylic acid family and so is tamarind (tartaric acid). Since each is normally fluid and has water, it would start the reaction prematurely. (unless she's getting a powdered form somewhere). There's also vinegar, but it's a weak acid and it's a liquid if you buy it in the store.

I was thinking she used this instead of baking soda because it wasn't part of her ingredients. I Googled it and couldn't understand it, why it was used and how she used this particular ingredient in place of sodium bicarbonate.

Aaaahhhhh! And so the mystery ends!! Thanks SoapBuddy, I like the way her bath bombs look but if I can't pronounce it, understand it or don't know what it can possibly do to me, I'll pass!!
