I've tried four times to pour soap into the 3D soap molds. The batch sets up too fast, even when I poured at a light trace. Last attempt I used an oil only recipe with sweet almond oil and fractionated coconut oil. It worked as far as pouring but unable to get it out of the molds, even after I put it in the freezer. It wouldn't pop out, even when twisted. I struggled and struggled and one did come undone from mold but part of the soap seperated from the bar and remained on the mold. I'm going crazy as I have an order for 10 bars of soap-on-a-rope. Help!?!?

Personally, I've never had good luck with CP soaps in individual molds, so I'm probably not the best one to help. However, I have heard of people spraying their molds with a bit of cooking spray (Pam) first or using a bit of vaseline to sort of "grease" the mold.
I haven't tried either of those tricks, I just decided to give up on individual molds except for MP.

Best of luck,
Brandy

It's certainly worth a try. Hopefully I'll get more ideas today. Thank you.

Sweet almond oil and fractionated coconut oil are both so called soft oils. that's why you have a problem getting them out of the molds. I would change your recipe and include some harder oils or butters. 3D soaps aren't as easy as people think.

Thank you. I did try using harder oils, shea butter, coconut oil, palm oil, but the mix set too fast. I'll try this one more time and pour into molds quickly, after I stir in fragrance and mica. Thank you for your
help. You have a very nice website!

I have a batch of soaps in individual gingerbread men that are not willing to release. Then I greased the molds and poured a test run from my next soap batch. Those little guys came out very easily and in one piece. I still put them in the freezer for awhile. I would give this a try.

What do you grease the molds with? Olive oil, PAM, Crisco?

plain old vasilene. I tried the pam spray for my bear mold but it did not help much and left a very slight mottled effect on the bears. I did not see that on my gingerbread men that I just took out and they are the ones I used the vasilene on. Wish I had greased them up before pouring the wassial... it make take 6 months for them to release!

Thank you for your reply. My last attempt - within the hour I will be making soap-on-a-rope in the 3D molds. I just sprayed PAM on the molds but will remove it and use "...plain old vaseline". Wish me luck!

I just poured two bears...both vasilened up. Now typically I usually break one or more of their legs off trying to get them out of the mold... I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow and you let me know how yours turns out. Good Luck!

Bears sound more difficult than a rectangular 3D mold. My pour today went well as I used Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, and olive oil and poured into the well vaselined mold. I didn't wait for a trace, it was well mixed though, and the mix was thin enough to fill five molds plus extra for two bars. I was encouraged. I'll seperate one tomorrow just to see before we leave for the weekend. Keep in touch!

Thanks to those who replied to my query about seperating this darn soap-on-a-rope from the 3 D molds; sucess at last! This morning I poped them in the freezer for a few minutes, and shebang! What a deal. There was a molted look, on some of the bars but I think it is because there was a bit too much vaseline on the mold. The look is ok, nothing to worry about. Actually it gives the bars a unique look. Hope Susie's bears come out great too!

Both my bears came out with their legs intact! I did not even use the freezer... just had them in the fridge overnight. How I wish I could go back in time and vasilene my gingerbread boys! I am glad to hear that your mold released as well. I am always so happy when I finally master one of the techniques. Now once my bears cure alittle I'm going to try to make some soap paint and "doll" them up.

Wahoo!! Once you decorate your bears why don't you put the pic on this teach soap site for us all to see? Thanks for sharing. Janie
