I have a recipe for body butter, but I want to run it by y'all to see if it makes sense! Thanks so much!!

Shea Butter 40%
Water (includes water, aloe & glycerin) 25%
Oils 15%
E-wax 5%
Preservative 1%
Vit E
Rosehip Seed Oil

Ok, I'm re-asking my question only now I want to know if I can just leave out the water (I will still use a preservative) but not the aloe or glycerin. Then whip, or at least give it a try!

I've had a little bit of experience with body butters but as with soap making, I'm fairly new at that too lol! If you leave the water out of your recipe you might find that the end result, even after whipping, is quite a buttery, greasy blend which takes a little while to soak into your skin. Fantastic if you have that extra dry skin, but not always great if your giving it away as gifts because the general consumer tends to like products that can soak into your skin fairly quickly. Not something you can apply onto your hands before you start driving for instance lol!

Why do you want to leave the water out? Are you worried about the product going rancid? Or just want an extra buttery body butter?

You could leave the water out, but you would still need a preservative since the formula has aloe and glycerin. Your formula comes out to 86% (with the preservative). I don't think you would want to add 14% rosehip seed oil. What am I missing? Also, which preservative are you using? Not all of them are the same or are used in a same %.

It's been a while since I asked about my body butter, so I'm not sure why I mentioned leaving out the water. My preservative is Optiphen, which I like. I did make the body butter with the water and it came out better than I expected, but would it make any difference if I did leave out the water? Just curious...
