Do I need to add a preservative if I am making a lip scrub? If not, how long should I say the concoction is good for? Oil, Sugar and flavoring in a lip balm jar.

I would say yes, since someone would put their finger in it. Make sure that your preservative is lip safe.

Thanks Soapbuddy. I have seen some say that either honey or vitamin E acts like a preservative, is that true? A very popular retail website uses sugar, jojoba oil and flavoring oil.

That is so gross!! Thank you Soapbuddy. I guess I will just have to do some more research. Parabens are not safe to me, I try to avoid them at all costs. I think what I will do is put a warning and suggestion for use on the jar. I see a lot of people's recipes and they don't include a preservative. I can't find one other than parabens so I just have to figure it out!! Thank you Soapbuddy!!!
