Teach Soap

I see this ingredient a lot, I know it is a humectant and can be used for many different items. What is the advantage of using it in soap? Is it considered safe, natural? What else can it be used in? Thank you!!

It's used in MP as an emollient. It's derived from natural gas (I believe).

What humectant can I add to Cp soap? Do you think the Propolene Glycol will also add softness to the bar without ruining the soap?

I know. The reason why I asked was because I looked at LUSH's webpage to see their ingredients because their soaps are soft to the point of being able to cut them without exerting yourself too hard. I was wondering if this was because of the Propylene Glycol.

Great post, you are really doing your ingredient homework, a book that you might like is: Milady's skincare and cosmetic ingredient dictionary. I have the 3rd edition and find it very helpful.

Noni, many if not all LUSH soaps are melt-&-pour, not cold-process - the ones that include propylene glycol are most definitely M&P...

@tartchef are you serious? MP? Wowwwwww. I was wondering how they got it to stay soft enough to the point that if you want to cut a piece of it off three months after you bought it, that you can with no problems. Hmmmmm, what about the fact that they add fruit and veggies and other things like cranberries, and whole pieces of food products? that's really strange. I would've never guessed!!!
