Ok, I want to try to make dog shampoo from scratch using organic apple cider vinegar, has anyone ever tried it and did it work? Thanks!

PS I have made it before, but always added the apple cider vinegar in before use, but this time I would like to use it in place of some of the water??

Vinegar is acidic and will neutralize some of your lye. It won't work if you add all vinegar instead of water. Vinegar and lye will cancel each other out and your oils or butters will not emulsify/mix properly.

Thanks Soapbuddy. If you look for "Dog Shampoos" on line they tell you to mix dish liquid with water and apple cider vinegar all in equal amounts and bottle and keep. I have used my liquid shampoos and soaps and then just added the apple cider vinegar later when ready to use. I was just trying to think of a way to combine and sell at our HALO Animal Rescue fund raiser next month.

I have one more question if you don't mind. If I use my fractionated coconut oil in place of pure co would I use the same amount? I have never used my fco for anything other than my lotions. Thanks.

Regular coconut has a different SAP value than fractionated coconut oil. You will need to recalculate your recipe.

Thanks, I decide after some research to just go with my reg coconut oil, also decided to go with tried and true recipes for the fund raiser.
