Hi. I have a question about "rebatching" lotion. I made a batch of lotion using the formula in the Bramble Berry lotion book. I wanted a light, thin lotion so I used the minimum percentages for stearic acid and e-wax and the maximum percentage for water and the rest was just sunflower oil.

The lotion was definitely thin and light, but after a few days it began to separate , so I am wondering if I can rebatch this lotion to make it come out emulsified and how would I do it? I am guessing more e-wax, but what about stearic? Also, does it matter that it is already fragranced?

Also, has anybody else tried making lotion with just a single oil? If so, what was your outcome?

Assuming that the lotion is just for your own personal use, you can do a few things. First, if it's in a bottle, try just giving it a good shake. If that doesn't work, you could try warming the separated solution and adding another bit of melted e-wax. The warming may affect your fragrance, but better than losing your whole batch of lotion.

I wouldn't rebatch since you will negate any preservative that's in there and if you add more it can be irritating. Next time use a little more e-wax.
