A couple days ago I made a batch of bath bombs for my husband using the basic TeachSoap recipe (baking soda, citric acid, FO, La Bomb color, and a touch of sweet almond oil). I've used this recipe several times before without incident. This time, though, I added a small amount of Epsom salts - about 1/2 cup to 3 pounds of bath bomb mix. I put the bombs into a zip-top baggie today (just as I always do) and noticed something odd. The bombs appear to be outgassing since the bag keeps filling up with something and popping open. I'm guessing this has something to do with the addition of magnesium sulfate and that the gas in the bag is oxygen, but I don't know enough chemistry to be certain. Does anyone here have any insight on this? Thanks!
