Twice I tried recipes with olive oil and no matter how many hours I cooked it just won't turn semitransparent dough paste like the other recipes without olive oil. Is this normal with olive oil?

I have used olive oil as high as 45% of oils and have not had any problem. Are you superfatting your liquid soap? I superlye at 2%.

I'm not superfatting my soap, but I didn't up KOH either. The last time I up KOH by 5% it feels kind of dry after wash.
Update: I diluted the paste although it was not transparent after 3 hours of cooking. And the liquid soap came out just fine. I have no clue why but I'm satisfied as long as the final product is fie.

Thanks!

It was a body wash that I made with 45% olive oil and it turned out very nice. Not drying at all. I am glad your soap turned out great. Making liquid soaps can be a challange at times but it is fun. I use 2% extra lye thru the cooking process to insure my soaps come out clear. I have then used a little borax to offset the extra lye. I just recived some boric acid and am going to experiment with it rather than the borax to adjust the ph.
