Teach Soap

I'm new at making liquid soap with Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) and it came out kind of watery. I know stearic acid is used in CP soap and lotion as the thickening agent. Can stearic acid be used in liquid soap to thicken it up? If so, how and how much? Also, can Sodium Lactate be used in liquid soap to extend the shelf life? If so how and how much?

I haven't tried stearic acid in liquid soap, but sodium lactate will not extend the shelf life of liquid soaps.

I know I tried stearic acid once and did not like it. I can't remember why. Most like to use borax because it is cheap but to much may be drying to your skin. Corthix works great but is not cheap. Best way is to just add less water.
