Teach Soap

I am wanting to try my hand at bb's and saw this at teach soap's page-it *seems* simple enough

• 1 part citric acid
• 2 parts baking soda
• Witch hazel
• Coloring of your choice
• Fragrance oil of your choice
• Dome Shaped Mold


The only thing I don't like is it doesn't tell you how much of the coloring to use or fo loading either. I have never made any before, but I would like to know if you have to use the la bomb type colorant, or if you could just use something like a mica (since I am buying them already for lip balm from BB, I was thinking that would save me some $ since I am just playing around right now). If you can use micas, about how much would you need? In the tub soak recipe, it does say micas can stain your tub-but I have seen several other recipes that call for micas or powdered colorant. Also, if it calls for dehydrated milk, is that the same thing is powdered milk?
Would that be the same dried milk they would use in a bath tea bag? I am just trying to figure out which products I could make that have alot of materials that overlap. Thanks!!

It's a 'WYSWYG' - What you see is what you get! - kind of thing.

Yes, you can use micas. When they are coloring, you'll notice that they are a bit pastel. They get darker when they get wet and hit the water so don't go overboard. I use about 1/8 tsp per 2 pounds of dry mix.

Any colorant can stain your tub - especially if the tub is dirty or has a ring around it - so keep that in mind if you see a stain. It could just be bad cleaning ... =)

Should I put some kind of warning on the bath fizzy to let customers know it could stain their tub? I don't want them to not buy them -I mean I know people buy bath fizz all the time. What is the best way to say this?

If the color stains their tub, you are using too much color. I don't put a warning label on mine and mine are lightly colored.
