Anyone uses glycolic acid or Multifruit SBC in their natural handmade liquid soap?

Soap is on the skin only a short period of time. You would have better luck using it in lotions or creams.

I have Keratosis Pilaris on the back of my arms and top of my thighs. I used to buy these expensive body wash and lotion with glycolic acid and they work pretty well. Now that I'm making my own soap and lotion I want to reproduce the same effect because my Keratosis Pilaris is coming back after not using glycolic product for awhile. I was hoping that I can replicate both body wash and lotion. I guess that's just not possible.

If you know how to formulate your own lotion or cream, Here is what I would do:

Make the glycolic concentration at 10 percent or less.
Make sure that he final product has a pH of 3.5 or greater.
Formulate the product in such a way that it protects the skin from increased sun sensitivity with ingredients such as titanium dioxide, or PABA if you can tolerate it. I would also make sure that your formula includes some Vit. E.

When formulating a cream or lotion, I like to use oils that are high in Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids. Hemp Oil contains approximately 23.1% Omega 3 fatty acids and 55.2% Omega 6 fatty acid. Also vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, D & E.

I have no idea how much Hemp Oil costs but, according to the USDA, Soybean Oil contains 6.8% Omega 3 fatty acids and 51% Omega 6 fatty acids. I would also include Avocado or Soybean Oil. Also include humectants. Glycerin is good. Yes, there are other excellent humectants, but none of them is as cost effective as Glycerin.

From what I read it was recomended that the area needs daily exfoliation and moisturizing. Apparently the skin isn't shedding the sebum, which it is naturally supposed to do, and the pores are getting 'clogged'.

Would you be opposed to trying a sugar scrub? You could keep it very simple such as pure olive oil and sugar of your choosing. Make up a batch with 50% of each. Mix them together and use on the areas that need it the most.

Also, Check out the ingredients here: http://www.ingredientstodiefor.com/cate ... gory_id=28 or here: http://www.ingredientstodiefor.com/cate ... ory_id=210 They do have unusual ingredients that might help with your skin condition. Let me know if you need more help.

Thank you soapbuddy!

I went online with your link and found that I currently have MSM, Methylsulfonylmethane in hand, I was going to try making a sulfur mud mask to help my acne face but I can certainly use it in lotion to help glycolic acid penetrate into my skin better! What do you think of this formula:

Distilled water 60%
MSM 10%
Glycolic acid 10% 5%
Glycerin 5%
Hemp seed oil 5%
Avocado oil 5%
Shea butter 3%
Tocopherol 1.5%
Stearic acid 2%
Olivem 1000 3%
Tinosan SDC 0.3%
Tetrasodium EDTA 0.2%

Anything I need to modify?

It looks ok to me. The only way to find out if it will work for you is to make a small batch and see how your skin likes it.

I modify my recipe so lightly and substitute Shea butter with Carrot seed oil and added some Hyaluronic acid and boy it's better than anything I ever put on my face. Except I don't know how long I can stand that smelly carrot seed oil.

Thanks, soapbuddy!
