Teach Soap

Im new to soap and lotion making and to this forum, so please excuse me if this is a silly question.

I created a body butter today that had:
25g of cocoa butter
25g of shea (raw/unrefined) butter
25g of mango butter
5 tsp of jojoba oil.

So i blended it all together and it looked quite good, but my trouble is that it is VERY greasy on the skin, i added about 1 tsp of corn starch powder but still very very greasy. I want to keep the body butter as natural as possible, no chemical additives, how can I do this?

It will always be greasy. That's the nature of butters and oils. You could sub some fractionated coconut for one of your ingredients, but it won't help a whole lot.

hi soapbuddy, thanks for your reply, i tried the body shop and frangrance of ireland body butter and i didnt get the same greasy feeling, is this because of the use of artificial chemicals?

The Body Shop butter is not a true body butter in that it's actually a heavy cream.. if you check the ingredients, the first one listed is aqua.. anything with water in it is an emulsion, a cream. A true body butter is 100% oils/butters - most people think the BS one is a true BB but it's not. To get the effect of that you'd need to make a cream using an emulsifier, water, oils/butters and a preservative.

If you don't mind it, try using cyclomethicone to your mix - it gives a lovely feel.. not nature per se but very nice to use (IMO).
