hi all,
after reading everyones posts for a few months now I finally decided to make my first lip balm (please bear in mind this is only for my friends and me, not for sale) and although I enjoyed making it I have a question
This is my recipe:
Butter 54% (I used cocoa)
Light oils 26% (sunflower)
Wax 19% (candelila)
Preservative 1%
Flavour – dont know for sure how much I put in but it was only a few drops on a 30gr recipe
Liquid colour
And because I hated the taste I added a small amount of honey
So I melted my oil, butter, wax and honey in a make shift double boiler, stirred, struggled a little dissolving colour, added fo and preservative and poured. It now looks wonderful, ever so slightly red tinted, very hard and melts nicely in touch with skin. The one thing that bothers are the first couple of minutes after application when I feel a slight tingling on my lips. Is this normal? Have any of you experienced it? If this is unusual, any ideas as to what might have caused it?
thanks a lot!
