Thank you Renanne. Most of the time, they actually turn out better than I expect, so it's a pleasant surprise when I cut into them. This time, there was less spontaniety to it.... too much planning, and a very specific look expected. When it didn't come off as I hoped, I was really discouraged. Then I realized that it lacked the creativity that made the other soaps work. I'm going to stop trying so hard

The beauty of these soap stones is that they become more beautiful with use. The water keeps them "polished" and as they are used, different patterns and in many cases, different colors and shapes emerge. That's one thing that keeps me facinated with them. I have never tired of looking at them when I'm at my sink. They do last a very long time, if kept in a well drained dish or wooden soap rack. When they get too small to be comfortable, they go in a little "collection" of used pieces, which one day is fused together for a new bar. I hate waste! HA!
