Teach Soap

Can someone help me troubleshoot this recipe? It felt pretty good, but it's a little slow to soak in. I haven't ever used Coconut in a lotion recipe, so I'm not too sure about it.

74% Water
3.5% E-wax
1% Stearic Acid
7% Sweet Almond
4% Jojoba
3% Apricot Kernal
2% Coconut, Refined
4% Shea Butter
.85% Comocil CQ
.15% Potassium Sorbate
.5% EO

Try lowering the amount of the shea butter. Is it refined or unrefined?

it's unrefined

what oil would you recommend I put it back into? jojoba maybe?

ETA: it's a little slow to absorb and feels a little greasy, then it almost leaves a powder sensation after it's completely soaked in

Unrefined is more greasy on my skin. I would drop it to 2% and up your Sweet Almond, Jojoba or Apricot Kernal.

Hmmmm I've used higher %'s of shea than that and didn't have a problem. I'm not a big fan of stearic acid - I find it can leave your skin a bit draggy. What about using a slightly higher % of your emulsifier and removing the stearic acid? Coconut oil is lovely on the skin.

I tweaked a bit last night and had some better results. I didn't use any stearic and reduced the shea. I added more sweet almond and a bit more jojoba. I think I will try again leaving the same amount of shea and just without the stearic and see how it does.

I've just started making lotion not too long ago, so I am not as experienced in this department as others. But when I dropped the stearic acid it seemed to help with that feeling on mine. I still use stearic in some of my recipes, so it just depends. What's your recipe?
