Can anyone out there tell me if i need to add preservative to the recipe below? If not how long do you think the shelf life will be? Is there anything i can add to make it more creamier than whipped?

6 oz. Shea butter
1.2 oz Olive Oil
1 oz. Corn Starch
1.2 oz Avocado Oil
1 oz Almond Oil
1 teaspoon fragrance oil

You don't need a preservative. However, avocado has a shorter sheld life. I would say no longer than 4-5 months. What do you mean by "creamier"?

More creamy texture. The recipe i whipped up seems to be greasy but it did wonders for my caloused feet!. I just wanted a creamier less greasy feel. If i remove avocado oil from the recipe and replace it with some other type like cocoa butter, then shelf life will last longer? If i add preservative, will shelf life be at least 6 months? Thank you for letting me know about the avocado shelf life!

Oils or butters are greasy by nature. You could add some Natrasorb to cut down on the greasiness. Cocoa butter does have a longer shelf life, but it will make your formula thicker and possibly more oily. I would not add a preservative, unless there's a chance the product will get introduced to water. Adding a preservative will no add any extra time to your ingredients. You could add some Vit. E to help as an anti-oxidant. The fresher the oils and butters the longer it will last.

Where can i purchase Natrasorb? Does starch work the same way? I noticed some online recipes have starch as an ingredient. Thanks so much for your reply! I was in a fair in Monterey a few weeks ago and there was a lady selling body butter and soap. She has a website, soapdishes.com. Her body butter is very fragrant and whipped and not greasy at all. But it did not moisturize my skin like other body butters I have tried. I liked the texture of her body butter, its all whipped up and creamy but does not moisturize my skin. She had beautiful loaf soap designes and they all smell so good.

If you don't have Natrasorb, try some corn starch. It's similar.

I use shea butter and sweet almond oil in my whipped shea butter. Also some cornstarch helps cut down on the greasy feeling, it will be greasy but it works sooo great!!!!
