Teach Soap

I followed a tutorial posted on soap queen's blog for a sugar cube scrub, only substituted salt for the sugar and rice bran oil for the grapeseed

I ended up with a crumbly mess. The mixture retains it's shape but it is very soft (like a previous salt scrub I made with m&p and sea salts). It's not dry crumbly, but some edged will break off easily.

Not a waste at all! Still usable as a scrub, but the cube idea went out the window.

forgot to add that I used a bit of beeswax (thinking this would help "harden")

I bet it was the besswax that did it.

I'm not sure. It might be salt vs. sugar. Just did another batch one of salt and one of sugar... the sugar batch was able to harden almost immediately after pouring. the salt batch seems to stay a paste like consistency (and I omitted beeswax too). Maybe I should just stick with sugars

I would just stick with sugar then. Don't fix what ain't broke.

how about if you add more salt than you would sugar?

might as well give it a shot. If it doesn't get hard enough I'll just put it in a jar and give it to the next b-day candidate. The Sugar cubes are amazing, though. I'm not sure if I want to let go of those.
