i am new at the lotion-making, too. i would like to know how long it takes if you are making a tincture. how long do i have to steep my calendula flowers and comfrey in the alcohol before i can start using it. also, where is the best place to purchase emulsifying wax and stearic acid. thanks.

I think if you're making lotion with the calendula & comphrey, you'd want to steep them in oil, not alcohol. The best place to buy ewax & stearic acid is from Brambleberry Soapmaking Supplies

For lotions, steeping in oil is better. You could add the steeped alcohol to your lotion, but it would be VERY drying. I agree; get your supplies from BrambleBerry. Be aware that herbal extracts in lotions are harder to preserve.

Im new to lotion making and soap making. I would like to attempt to try to make my own lotion, I saw some complete kits in the Brambleberry website. Does this have a shelf life and what can i put in the mixture to extend its shelf life and how long will the lotion last?

Need advice, i would like to know where i can purchase a lotion / cream making kit complete with ingredients and instructions. I saw a kit at michael's but i was wondering if it was a good kit to start with. Is it possible to learn this on my own? I paid $160.00 for a 3 hour soap making lesson and i still have a lot of questions and emailed my teacher and she never replies. I am so glad i saw this forum. If anyone out there can help me out, pls. do so. I do not plan to enroll and pay the same amount for a lotion making class. Its too expensive. So please do help me.
