haha.........yea. I have some 4 yr old shea in the deep freeze....still just as fresh as when I got it. I used to use shea alot, and i still do I reckon, just not as much since I've discovered the yummt goodness of mango butter........lol But the shea and cocoa butter, I get those in 25 pound buckets (or sometimes 25 KILO buckets!!) and break them up into 3 pound gallon ziplock freezer bags. I double bag them and toss them in the bottom of the freezer and pull one out when the one I'm using is getting low. Buying in bulk really does save alot of money and they keep wonderful in the freezer.
I did have some shea go bad once......this was before I started freezing it. It was that almost olive green stuff, it was great but had a pretty pungent scent to it. One day I went to scoop some out of the gallon bucket and it had these orangey spots in it, some almost as dark as rust, and the smell.......omg........like some kind of petroleum product or something. it was quite terrible. I've only seen that once thankfully, but the smell of bad green shea is not something that leaves your mind readily.
