The first time I ever made body butter was with Shea, Coconut oil, and a little fragrance (plus some arrowroot powder). IT came out fine and even 10 months later was still smooth and fluffy feeling.
Well I made my new batch this weekend. I would say saturday I made the test batch. IT turned out great! It was great on Sunday too. I go to open my jar today and it's HARD! not like a deflate hard but like, dryer, hard lotion! And I'm freaking out because instead of Coconut oil I used Meadowfoam oil which I hadn't used before and my grandmother bought some from me to give to her friends. I can't give this product out, especially as I made super light and fluffy double batch today for all those jars.
The recipe (original batch, non doubled. Yielded about 12.25oz)
14oz Refined Shea 2oz of meadowfoam 5ml fragrance 2tbsp arrowroot
I'm so freaked out and I've been searching but nothing is coming up that seems helpful. Can I just rewhip all of this and perhaps add more of a liquid oil? Do you think that will work?
