I'm making a leave-in conditioner which consists of carrier oils, glycerin, essentials oils and distilled water (or possibly aloe vera liquid) ... my question is regarding an emulsifier. I'd rather not have to "shake well before every use" ... can i use BTMS-50 or is there something more appropriate? Or, if i use an emulsifier does it just then become a lotion? That's not what i'm looking for.
The last thing is the preservative. Optiphen versus Optiphen ND. From what I've read one is intended for water based products, the other for oil based products. But many recipes are both. How do you determine which to use? Is it based simply on whichever is the larger percentage of the overall product or is really ok to use either for oil or water?
Thanks in advance
