Hi everyone. My new year's project is to get into soap making so I'm totally new to all of this.

My question is: what is the difference between fragrance oils and essential oils? I've seen various oils like Red Lavender and Vanilla at the supermarket but when I smell them they all smell like alcohol :shock:

Welcome!

Most fragrance oils in supermarkets ARE diluted in alcohol. That's how they are sold to the general public.

Fragrance Oils are made in a lab with compounded materails.
Essential Oils are made by mother nature.

I am glad to be of help!
If you are in PR then you get US mail and can get supplies in flat rate boxes like I could when I lived in Hawaii.
Some of the suppliers I used would use US Mail if I called and asked them - if the products I ordered could be sent that way ( some FOs cannot be shipped through the US mail) then they would do it for me. It doesn't hurt to ask!

Hi there,

I recently have found a great online store for fragrance oils, it's hard to find a good one at a reasonable price. They have a ton of discontinued oils for 16oz @ $6.49 (Which is a steal!) They also have great knockoffs of fragrances we all love, like Bath & Body Works/Victoria's Secret etc. Most of these are priced at 16oz for $14.00! Just thought I'd share

It's a nice web site, but I wish they had results how well their FO's work in CP soap.

Very true, I've only used them in salt/sugar scrubs & lotions.
