Teach Soap

My sister in law has a spray tanning business and recently made her own after-tan powder that she is selling (un-insured, non-labelled, and completely against everything I explained to her... but that is a different post!), the powder is: baking soda, corn starch, and lime essential oil. She was told how to make this by friends who own other spray tanning businesses. How un-safe is this? I warned her about phototoxicity, but am not sure if there are other issues she needs to be told about as well. I make a very simple powder myself, but I'm not a professional at it by far!

Any help would be great, while I attempt to get her to pay attention to at last a few of the laws she is breaking

Not sure if the EO could react with the tanning chemicals either...

Lime oil could cause more photo sensitivity. You could burn faster; whether in natural sunlight or an artificial tanning lamp. That is a liability issue waiting to happen. If someone sues, she could loose her business.

Told her that, but she is sure no one would sue her because of who her husband's family is. Not sure how to get it into her head that she needs insurance and to learn the proper way to make these things.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Sad to say but in this day and age the more notable you are or perceived to have "more than enough money" the more likely someone is to push the limit and sue. Now unless she is connected to the mafia and her husband could 'strong arm' anyone who tried I'm not sure why she would at least not take out insurance?

Right on the nose Susie. Big mob family. No one would dare sue her. But that isn't a justifiable reason for her to risk people's health! Not in my opinion anyhow!
