Hey everyone!

So I realize that "flavor" oils don't actually have flavor and just smell nice and adding liquid/powder sweetener helps to bring out that flavoring to the mind. Most commercial fun flavored lip balms TASTE like their flavoring.
I've received a few hand made lip balms that are scented, but no added sweetener -- they smell lovely, but taste like wax. My personal preference is that I enjoy the actual taste and not just the smell (though some like it flavor-less so it's not impulse to lick it all off)


Anyhoo! So I have flavors like bubble gum, cotton candy, chocolate, mint, etc that are good for adding sweetener... But I also found some 'wild' flavors like pizza, pickle, popcorn, and even BACON flavor oils!! I'm wondering if adding some sweetener to those will help bring the flavor of the scent out -- or if the 'sweetness' will make them weird.

So do anyone else make savory flavored balms? Do you sweeten or leave natural? Suggestions?

I would make them VERY lightly sweetened as that brings out the flavor.

I have a few savory flavors. I have bacon, and buttered popcorn. (I made a really good Caramel Corn using 50/50 caramel and buttered popcorn. Yum!) I also made one just for myself using cumin EO. I really like it, but I crave Mexican food when I wear it!

I don't sweeten my savory ones, and they taste just find to me. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary.
