I made bath truffles using Soap Queen's all natural (no SLS) recipe and was wondering how long it normally takes them to dry out. I put them in the fridge for 30 minutes per her instructions, but they're still very soft. They are about 3 oz each...maybe this is too big? TIA!

Linda, I haven't made that recipe, or even seen it, but when I make mine (and I am guessing they are pretty similar) I leave them molded for several hours, sometimes a day if it is really humid. I don't put mine in the fridge though. All mine are pretty big, so I am thinking you just need some more time. :D

Your welcome and I am sure they will be fine after they sit a bit, but let us know how it goes, I am sure others will be interested in the specifics of that recipe. I wish you luck......remembering where you stored them!

I just watched that video last evening while surfing you tube. I was surprised that she said to put them in the fridge. Did you feel that was a necessary step or just keep them in a place to dry would work?

[quote][quote="ljm1180"]I need to rely on others to test them because I don't have a tub...

Thank Heaves this is not me.... where ever would I read my books? :D

Yes, do tell. I am curious too as why you would put them in the fridge. I have never done that, but if it helps in some way I am open to it.

I always thought you put them in the freezer to help unmould them without breaking. :)

Thanks mardatha, while I have put other things in the fridge or freezer to set up, I have never had an issue unmolding the bath truffles and bombs, so that didn't even cross my mind. I guess if that is the only reason, I won't worry about doing it.

I used this recipe and mine took a day or so to fully harden. They didn't bubble up as good as I had hoped, but without the SLS I suppose I should have expected that. They still smelled great and my skin felt nice afterward.

For what it's worth, I put some in the fridge and left some out. The ones that went into the fridge seemed to harden more quickly than the others.

Susie, technically I do have a tub, but it's in my 17 yr old son's bathroom. Therefore, I do not want to use it. 'nuff said.

I put mine in the fridge to hasten the hardening. I do not put them in the freezer because I don't want my mold to become brittle or condensation to form. The bigger they are, the longer they take. I personally do not like large truffles because then I need to cut them in half to use them. I also do not make fizzy truffles, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
