Teach Soap

With using my stainless steel soap pots for lotion making? If I cleaned them and sprayed the inside with alcohol and let them air dry?

I bought a couple of inexpensive stainless pots just for lotion making. One is used just heating and holding the water and the other is used for the oils.

I actually have some that have never been used, so I'll probably use them for the lotion.

They are fine to use, just sterilize and you are good to go!

I'm also glad to hear that as one of the never-used pots is huge - probably 8 - 12 quarts. I couldn't see trying to pour lotion from something that big into the smallish funnel I'll be using to fill my bottles. I got out two four-cup Pyrex type cups to use as pouring pitchers - they're part of the collection I had accumulated before I discovered that I couldn't use them in soap making.

I use a huge pyrex one for my lotion too. I make a big batch in my stainless steel pot and then I pour into the big pyrex and scent it and then bottle from there, that way I can make several scents from one batch of lotion.

I prefer to keep my soaping pots and lotion pots separate. I have a large stainless steel pitcher with a spout for lotionmaking.

I have always wanted one of those large stainless pouring pitchers, but either they have been too much money when I didnt have any, or I couldn't find them in stock when I did have the money. I have taken to mixing my 5 lb soaps in a heavy, clear plastic pitcher and I love it. It pours nicely and is just the right size, with just enough head space to not splatter out. I was concerned with the heat factor, but called the company and found that it can take way more than the lye will give, so... perfectomundo!
And I keep my lotion pot different from my soaping ones too, not really sure why, just anal that way I guess. Lol
