Most home crafters use a base because it's extremely difficult to source the ingredients in small quantities.

The kit from Brambleberry is really good. My daughter and I have had fun making nail polish.

I have never made nail polish but I have a great collection of it of various colors. :)

I recently read a book called Eco Beauty by Lauren Cox that had a fingernail polish recipe in it. It involved the use of olive oil & kaolin clay. I can't recommend the book for most of the recipes in it & the horrible misinformation with a lot of it, but my 10 yr old did try the olive oil & kaolin clay mixed with a bit of mica, and it did stick for a day or 2.

But it's not as good as actual nail polish.

Excuse me, but that is almost my HP soap recipe, I had no idea it also worked as nail varnish :lol: .
