I'm trying to tweak my basic lip balm recipe (which is based on one from The Sage). I'm thinking about offering a couple of flavors geared toward male customers, and I'm trying to get a hair more firmness and less shine.
So here's what I'm considering:
28% beeswax
5% peach kernel oil
21% apricot kernel oil
18% palm kernel oil
28% hydrogenated soybean oil
The original recipe has 10% castor oil. I took that out, as I know that contributes a lot to the shine factor. I split the 10% between the beeswax (4% extra from the original) and the PKO and soybean (3% extra each from the original).
I'm going to play with it a bit later today, as I have a recipe that is sized for just a couple of tubes.
But am I headed in the right direction? Anywhere close?
Thanks.
