Hey everyone, I am looking for a simple sugar scrub recipe, not to sell as I am only using it as a gift for my Mom. I make my own simple scrub but do so when I am ready to use it so do I really need to preserve one if I am making and giving it to someone. I also recently bought a few clays and wondered about incorporating that into my scrub for her. Would it be better to mix and package all the dry stuff and have her mix the oil in when ready to use it? I only plan to make a one time use scrub. Thanks

I would mix any oils and butters and have her add her own sugar with instructions. You can use any oils you like, but I find olive oil is the most heavy and greasy. The only way to know what you like is to experiment, since everyone's skin is different. Keep good notes and weigh everything so you can repeat it if you find a mix that you like.

I use a mixture of sweet almond oil and sunflower oil. I also use a mixture of white sugar and brown sugar (1:1). As for the oils I use about equal amounts of both and then add the oils to the sugar until I get the consistency I want. I like my scrubs a little dry and my mom (I make them for her too) likes them a little wetter. Trial and error! Write everything down though so you can redo the recipe! Good luck!
