I tried the Liquid Soap Tutorial from Anne-Marie...everything went well. Cooking of the paste and the clear/PH test. My problem is that it's pretty thin. I followed her directions and used the 6:1 dilution and thickened with salt. It's still pretty thin :(

The soap is a little warm, would it thicken up as it cools? :?

I would give it some time before you judge the final consistency.

Thanks! I am going to wait and hope for the best...right now all it reminds me of is my grandmother's water down dish soap

It does not have as much suds as I would have liked so I am wondering if I may have gotten carried away with the water. Maybe I should try next time to cut back on the water and maybe build it to the consistency that I want instead of using the salt water method?

I don't know this recipe since I use my own. I use less water then she does. It doesn't lather as much as synthetic soaps, but it gets the job done without harsh chemicals.

I started with this recipe too, added a 2% SF tho. All my calcs seemed to show a 0%SF so when I changed to grams I reworked that. I used a heap more salt solution than Anne-Marie did, but it became really nice & thick. Was a bit worried the salt might make it drying but its lovely & soft, very soothing feeling on the hands, guess it's the high olive, which is also why the bubbleage isn't real good.

Though I have a pig farmer friend I gave some to & he loves it! :D Reckons bubbles don't matter cos it cleans so well. Says it gets rid of the 'smells' better than any commercial stuff. Thats a pretty good testimonial  Oh, & really likes how effective it is against grease, when he's mechanic-ing. It doesn't have to bubble lots to be good soap.

Another thing I did, NOT recommended, I forgot about some I was diluting & yeah, it wasn't all that far off paste again when I remembered :? so it's definately possible to gently heat some of the excess liquid off! Better to start with less tho! :D
