I'm thinking about trying to make some body butter. I've been wandering the internet, looking at recipes.

Is there a basic percentage recipe?

Based on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9368, it seems that 30% oil and 70% butter is the recommended ratio. And I'm getting the idea that most body butters are anhydrous.

Well, I had that idea until I went wandering through one of Swift's e-books, and lo and behold, she has body butter recipes that include water. And no mention of whipping, unlike the oil/butter recipe.

I'm thinking a preservative would be a good idea - I certainly plan to use one.

Percentages on fragrance??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anita

The word "body butter" is subjective. A well known B&B company has a body butter that has water in it. Yes, it can have water but then it will need a preservative.

Different fragrances have different strengths. The % vary. If you are in the US, I suggest that you follow either IFRA guidelines or ask the vendor for safety % of a particular fragrance.
